The ‘Perfect Time’

When deliberating over when and where to do an engagement session you should always consider the time of day. Our favorite time of day to do engagement sessions is during golden hour. This is the time just before that big beautiful natural light source known as the sun starts to dip at an angle where the light starts hitting off the tops of the trees. The hour just before the sun dips below the horizon line. The light during this hour is absolute perfection. When capturing photographs of couples one of the biggest challenges is battling the sun and all of the shadows it can create on a couples faces. Our style relies heavily on natural light and over the years we have honed in on the skills to use the sun and all it has to offer.

The Right Location

Any location will do, really. However, if you are looking for the ultimate sunset photos you should head to the coast. This can always be blended with another location such as a local park or estate. Choosing a location that has a little bit of both is always the best option. Take a look below at the results of some of our favorite sunset sessions.

As you can see by the photos above the results are equally artistic, romantic, and timeless all while maintaining a true storytelling portrait. They all showcase love without any kind of visible expression.

When should we schedule our session?

The time of year also plays an integral part in all of this as well. Luckily, technology has brought us an app that tells us the sunset times FAR in advance. So, when you are ready, let us know and we will put something in the calendar. We will choose a time and date that coincides with the overall feel and aesthetic of your wedding.
