Jardyel & Jade

Proposal

Mount Rainier National Park

Surprise proposal and engagement session at Mount Rainier National Park.

Take me to Paradise....Mount Rainier National Park

Jardyel reached out about a surprise proposal and engagement session the he was optimistic about taking place within Mount Rainier National Park. Jade, his girlfriend, is a huge fan of the park, and had always dreamed of visiting the park. The discussions leading up to the big day were many, and we finally landed on meeting at Paradise. We agreed to keep hiking to a minimum, due to some limitations, and came up with an idea to do the proposal on the steps with Mount Tahoma in the background. Anyone that lives nearby knows how prominent it is on the skyline from many directions, but to be within its shadow, is a whole different feeling entirely. With your boots on the ground, you can feel the power of this dormant volcano. With its storied history, it is a natural marvel of the Pacific Northwest, and loved by so many. It was so nice to see a couple so in awe of the mountain, and want to have this momentous occasion take place in its presence.

Shortly before they were set in place, Keith and Jardyel met by the visitor center bathroom for a quick briefing of how it was all going to go down. Keith was going to be in place near the steps, waiting for his “family” to come down from a hike. When Jardyel & Jade arrived on site to the steps, Keith would ask for their phone to take a photo of them in front of Mount Tahoma. After this was done, Keith would then disappear and leave Jardyel & Jade in the same spot, with some convincing from Jardyel that this was a great place to stay and enjoy the beautiful views, Jade stayed, and Jardyel asked the big question.

As you can see from the photos, Jade was very very excited, and she said YES!!!

After giving Jade & Jardyel time to enjoy the moment and freshen up, it was time to take some portraits. We stayed pretty close by, and a majority of these photos were taken right by the side of the parking lot. Yup, it does not take much to make magic happen in Mount Rainier National Park. Every way you turn, there are new opportunities with gorgeous mountains, water features, lush greenery, fields full of wild flowers, and so much more.

It was time to leave the parking lot and use what light we had left on the trail leading to Myrtle Falls, and while we did not make it all the way to the falls, we did find some amazing spots to take photos along the way. We were losing light pretty quickly, and wanted to make sure to get at least 15 more minutes of photography time. We had already discussed additional time the following day, since we were staying in the park overnight.

Our time together was coming to a close on night one, but we couldn’t leave without getting some nice photos of them with the mountain glowing from the blue hour light. The mountain changes so much throughout the day, and I think we got to witness some of her best looks for a sunset.

Another day, more portraits, different location entirely, this time we met at Sunrise. Jade & Jardyel arrived shortly before the timed entry started the next morning, and we had been there all night sleeping in our car (now that is dedication to telling the story). Our kids were nestled in the back all night with some cushions, while we slept in the front seats. We spent some of the night looking at the Milky Way and watched 40+ meteors streak through the night sky. When we finally met up again, I knew we were going to make some more beautiful photos together.

To date, we have done over two dozen surprise proposals, but never have we done two in less than 24 hours.

We are always honored to be a part of such a momentous moment in a couples lives. It is nice to witness the joy and love a couple shares, and to capture it is the icing on the cake. We love doing these sessions, and welcome any couple to reach out for more information. No matter where you are from, and what you have in mind, I am sure we can bounce some ideas back and forth and come up with an amazing plan to get you both engaged.
