Proposal

Fremont Fire Lookout

Hiking under the Starry Night Sky

It was roughly 2 weeks ago, we had been contacted by Keshav about his plans to propose to Kavee in Mount Rainier National Park. Once the conversation started, it was mentioned that it was going to be a hike at 2am on a Thursday morning, so that we could all arrive to Fremont Fire Lookout in time for the sunrise and do our best to coordinate a spot for the proposal to take place. It was an epic idea, and one we were fully in support of, and loved the idea of being a part of this adventure. However, it needed to be fine tuned. So, after some carefully thought out ideas, we came to the conclusion that we would meet at the bathrooms prior to the hike, and this lone friendly hiker would become a part of their hiking party to and from their destination. I had mentioned that my family was sleeping in the car, and that I would love some hiking companions. After all, I had bear spray. My camera gear was all nicely tucked away, and I looked the part of a tourist looking for some adventure.

The hike was incredible, tiring, refreshing, and extremely rewarding. It is a hike I had never done before, and I was looking forward to it leading up to the big moment. Little did I know, I would be making two new lifelong friends, and we would bond while on this journey. After our 2.5 hour hike, we got to our destination, and the views were spectacular and inspiring. I had gestured to Keshav what the best spot was, and he pulled her over and put his arm around her…and…

She said YES!!!

I turned to her and said “good thing you guys met me at the bathroom and I brought my nice camera with me” and Kavee still had no idea that Keshav had hired me. When we spilled the beans, I think she smacked him on the arm. We had pulled this off, and it was seamless and effortless. Turns out the acting skills I learned in my high school drama club days really came in handy.

Kavee was elated, and had the biggest smile on her face the whole hike back to the parking lot.

Look at that sunrise!!! Who wouldn’t be happy to see that, and also get proposed to.

When we arrived at the parking lot, it was time to get changed and freshen up. We would use a nearby trail for more photos, and stay close to rest our legs a bit after the long hike. The Emmons Vista was a great choice for an additional location to the already amazing photos we got on the Fremont Lookout Trail. It offered some different scenery with lush greens, wildflower fields, and beautiful pathways.
